Prescriptions

How Do I Order My Repeat Prescription?

We are not able to accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.

We endeavour to process repeat prescription requests within 72 working hours (3 full days).

How To Obtain Medicines Urgently

If you need medication urgently, please contact dispensary during working hours, or if the surgery is closed ring 111 for the NHS 111 service.

Dispensing

We are able to dispense prescriptions to patients living more than a mile from the nearest chemist.  This means those patients can obtain their medication from us here at the surgery, and we also offer a free delivery service.  Please ask reception for more details, and whether your address falls within our dispensing catchment area.

The practice operates a strict 28 day prescribing policy.

Collection of Controlled Drugs

Controlled drugs are dispensed at the time of collection and require two qualified dispensers to be present.

Collection of controlled drugs are restricted to 09:00-13:00 then after lunch from 14:00-17:00 during opening hours. This is due to two dispensary staff needing to be present.

Collection/Delivery

If you live more than a mile from the nearest pharmacy we can dispense your medication here at the surgery. We also offer a free home delivery service to our dispensing patients. If you live more than 1 mile as the crow flies from your nearest pharmacy please contact the surgery.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication may be asked to consult with either a pharmacist, a doctor or practice nurse at least once every six months to review these regular medications. You will be notified when this is required.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. If you have been advised by the surgery that your medication review is due, you will need to fill out our Medication Review Form.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a NHS service that allows us to send your prescription(s) directly to your chosen pharmacy. This paper-free prescription service means that you do not have to come into the surgery to collect your prescription.

We encourage all patients to register for this free service. You can register for electronic prescribing by completing our EPS registration Form.
