When We Are Closed
Outside of normal surgery hours there will be a recorded message asking you to telephone the most appropriate service for your needs. Please make sure you have a pen and paper handy to take a note of the number when you call as you will need to hang up and redial the service you require. Patients will be expected to attend a treatment centre in the area unless their condition warrants a visit by a doctor. At most times when the Surgery is closed you will be asked to call 111.
All telephone calls to NHS 111 are recorded. These recordings are strictly confidential and are dealt with in exactly the same way as patients' medical records. If you need to speak to a Doctor, the NHS 111 operator will ask a Doctor to phone you back, so please ensure you know the number you are calling from.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
