WELCOME TO BRANNEL SURGERY
IF YOU NEED A DOCTOR WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED, PLEASE PHONE NHS111. IN AN EMERGENCY PHONE 999
From 1st March 2021, we will be welcoming Dr Cathy Laing as a partner to the Practice. Dr Jay Purohit will be reducing his working sessions at the Practice and he will be job sharing with Dr Cathy Laing, who is his wife. Dr Purohit’s workload will be shared with Dr Laing so some of his patients will be offered a telephone appointment with Dr Laing when they call. Dr Laing will also be processing some of Dr Purohit’s prescriptions and results. Dr Laing has already covered several locum sessions at the Practice so some patients may have already spoken with her.
Following the retirement of Dr Cecil in April last year, we were joined in September by Dr Hester Monaghan. The Practice now has 2 male partners and 2 female partners, Dr Jay Purohit, Dr Michael Farrance, Dr Hester Monaghan and Dr Cathy Laing.
Please do not telephone the Surgery to enquire about the Covid vaccine, as soon as it is available to us we will be in contact with patients who are eligible. All care home patients and patients aged over 70 have now been offered a covid vaccination. If you fall into this group and have not been contacted, please telephone reception.
People aged 65 to 69 years will receive a letter to attend one of the community vaccination centres at Stithians, Wadebridge, Roche Pharmacy or a Truro Pharmacy.
People aged 16 to 64 years with underlying health conditions and informal carers are currently being contacted over the next few weeks to book an appointment. Patients are bring contacted via text message in the first instance so if you have a mobile telephone please ensure we have the number.
Face masks or coverings are now mandatory in most public areas.
We understand that some patients will be anxious about wearing a mask especially those with certain medical conditions.
GP’s are not required or in a position to provide exemption letters for patients who believe they should be exempt from wearing a face covering.
The current guidance suggests there is no requirement for the public to provide medical evidence for exemption from wearing face masks therefore a self- declaration should be sufficient.
For specific requirements in reference to public transport, shops or other areas where masks are required please contact those specific companies for further information.

Covid-19 Resource Directory
CORONAVIRUS - COVID-19
We are now in the delay phase of our response to COVID-19. This entails significant changes to how we identify and manage potential cases of COVID-19.
- 1. From today the public are being advised to stay at home (self-isolate) without any testing for COVID-19, regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases, if they have:
- a. A new continuous cough OR
- b. High temperature (of 37.8 degrees centigrade or higher)
- 2. The geographic element of the case definition has now been removed. Travel and contact history are no longer important for diagnosis, which is on the basis of symptoms alone. If people who have travelled do not have symptoms they do not need to stay at home, regardless of their travel history.
Individuals should stay at home (self-isolate) for 7 days from the onset of symptoms.
If more serious symptoms develop that they cannot manage at home they should firstly use NHS 111 online (https://111.nhs.uk/). People should only call NHS 111 if they cannot use the online 111 tool.
PHARMACY APPLICATION - ST STEPHEN

Whilst you are waiting to change to the new system, you can continue to order your medication by either dropping or posting in your paper repeat slip or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you for your patience during this time of transition.

Named Accountable GP for All Patients
Every patient has now been allocated a named GP who is responsible for your overall care at the practice. If you would like to know who your named GP is, please contact reception and they will be happy to inform you.
If you wish to change the name of your accountable GP, please let us know and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate this request.
Having a named accountable GP does not restrict your entitlement to see any doctor in the practice.
